babies............

A man was taking his wife, who was pregnant with twins, to the hospital when his car went out of control and crashed.

Upon regaining consciousness, he saw his brother, a relentless world-class practical joker, sitting at his bed side.  He asked his brother how his wife was and his brother replied, "Don't worry, everybody is fine and you have a son and a daughter.  But the hospital was in a real hurry to get the birth certificates filed and since both you and your wife were unconscious, I named them for you."

The husband was thinking to himself, "Oh no, what has he done now?" and said with trepidation, "Well what did you name them?"

The brother replied, "I named the little girl Denise." The husband, relieved, said, "That's a very pretty name! What did you come up with for my son?"

The brother replied, "Denephew."

getting older

Old  Age, I decided, is a gift

I  am now, probably for the first time in my life, the person I have  always wanted to be.  Oh, not my
body!  I sometime despair over my body, the  wrinkles, the baggy eyes, and the sagging butt.   And often I am taken aback by that old person that lives in my  mirror (who looks like my mother!), but I don't agonize over those things  for long.

I would  never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, my loving family for  less gray hair or a flatter belly.  As I've aged, I've become  more kind to myself, and less
critical  of myself. I've become my own friend.

I don't chide  myself
for  eating that extra cookie, or for not making my bed, or for  buying that  silly cement gecko that I didn't need, but looks so avante garde on my  patio. I am entitled to a treat, to be messy, to be extravagant.

I
have  seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon; before they  understood the great freedom that comes with aging.

Whose business is it  if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 AM and sleep  until noon?

I  will dance with
myself  to those wonderful tunes of the 60&70's, and if I, at the same  time, wish to weep over a lost love ..... I will.

I will walk the beach  in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive  into the waves with abandon if I choose to, despite the pitying glances  from the jet set.
They, too, will get  old.

I know I am  sometimes forgetful.  But there again, some of life is just  as
well  forgotten. And I eventually remember the important things.

Sure, over the years  my heart has been broken.   How can your heart not break when  you lose a loved
one,  or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit  by a car?  But broken hearts are what give us strength and  understanding and compassion.  A heart never broken is pristine  and   sterile  and will never know the joy of being imperfect.

I am so blessed to  have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my  youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face.   So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their  hair could turn silver

As you  get
older, it is easier to be  positive. You care less about what other people  think.  I don't  question  myself anymore.  I've even earned the right to be wrong.

So,  I like being old. It has set me  free.
I  like the person I have become.  I am not going to live  forever,  but  while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what  could have  been, or worrying about what will be.  And I shall eat dessert every  single day. (If I feel like it)

MAY  OUR FRIENDSHIP NEVER COME APART ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S STRAIGHT FROM  THE
HEART! MAY YOU ALWAYS HAVE A  RAINBOW OF SMILES ON YOUR FACE AND IN  YOUR  HEART FOREVER AND EVER!

surgeons

Five surgeons are discussing who makes the best patients to operate on.
The first surgeon says, "I like to see accountants on my operating table because when you open them up, everything inside is numbered."
The second responds, "Yeah, but you should try electricians! Everything inside them is colour coded."
The third surgeon says, "No, I really think librarians are the best; everything inside them is in alphabetical order."
The fourth surgeon chimes in: "You know, I like construction workers, those guys always understand when you have a few parts left over at the end, and when the job takes longer than you said it would."
But the fifth surgeon shut them all up when he observed "You're all wrong, politicians are the easiest to operate on."
"There's no guts, no heart, no balls, no brains and no spine, and the head and the butt are interchangeable."

swans

i thought it was about time that i put an update on here about the swans,

they are both doing well and very much in charge of the river again, the ducks, coots and moorhens still swear at them but generally from a distance, except when bread or corn is involved then its a beaky free for all,          the male still has a hissy fit when he see`s me but is trusting me more and more as time goes on,

BUT we had a serious problem earlier and as yet don`t know the outcome ,

another swan was found on the river, and its in a bad way, we managed to get hold of the `swan man` and he was here within 10 minutes,it looked to have a broken wing, but it seems that isn`t the case, the bird was very cold when taken away but is now in a warm pen with a heater, the average weight of a swan that size is about 10 kilos this one weighed in at 6 kilos, and feather wise is very bedraggled, the swan people are thinking that it may have lost its mate  as well, as its showing signs of being depressed so they will be doing their best but its basicly upto the swan,  will keep you updated when i know more,

golf

Two women were playing golf. One teed off and watched in horror as her ball headed directly toward a foursome of men playing the next
hole. The ball hit one of the men. He immediately clasped his hands together at his groin, fell to the ground and proceeded to roll around in agony.

The woman rushed down to the man, and immediately began to apologise.

'Please allow me to help. I'm a Physical Therapist and I know I could relieve your pain if you'd allow me,'she told him.

'Oh, no, I'll be all right. I'll be fine in a few minutes,' the man replied. He was in obvious agony, lying in the foetal position, still
clasping his hands together at his groin.

At her persistence, however, he finally allowed her to help. She gently took his hands away and laid them to the side, loosened his
pants and put her hands inside. She administered tender and artful massage for several long moments and asked, 'How does that feel'?

He replied: 'It feels great, but I still think my thumb's broken.'

love story

Love Story
I will seek and find you . . .
I shall take you to bed and have my way with you .
I will make you ache, shake & sweat until you moan & groan.
I will make you beg for mercy, beg for me to stop.
I will exhaust you to the point that you will be relieved when I'm
finished with you.
And, when I am finished, you will be weak for days.
All my love,
The Flu

Now, get your mind out of the gutter and go get your flu shot

mum and dad swan

these pictures were taken while they were away, initially to check him out as it was suspected that he had artritis, as he was having problems walking, ( mind you hes a hefty boy) they took both rather than leave her on her own, just as well as it transpired that she had some sort of problem , ( pus and nasty stuff in her breast area) which was duely drained and then they discovered she had a growth in that area, which unfortunately after removal has been discovered to be mallignant, so she will have a close eye kept on her,

now the good news, they both came `home` yesterday,( photos to follow) we havent seen either of them today, but hopefully we`ll find them tomorrow as he has to have drops given each day,

BIG babies

i thought it was about time i put these photos on my blog,

it used to be just the ducks that every time they saw us  went into a `quacking marathon`.  then  these 3 `hooligans` got into the act as well ( along with their mum and dad as well )    as soon as they heard voices they came running (literally) up to the garden gates and then the cheek of it .........they were pecking on the gate and honking so we knew they were there,

they didn`t miss a trick either if i went out on my buggy (mobility scooter) i had to make sure that i had some bread with me, sometimes just to get out the gate, but normally to get back in again......... little `darlings` used to try and race me to the gate,

the hand in the picture belongs to my sis in law, when she comes to visit she normally comes on her push bike and also found out that bribery in the shape of bread was a good thing, particularly when it came to getting in the gate ( or getting out again)

it did get silly at one stage in the summer as all the swans, parents included would lie around on the riverbank makeing it almost impossible for anyone to get past ........ as they wouldnt move for anything except dogs and ever then they had a go at the dogs first,

november saw the leaving of 2 babies the last one we think has recently left in the last week or so, probably a good thing as we are hopeing to get mum and dad back this week-end, more on that when ive had a cup of tea

the cat

We've all had trouble with our animals, but I don't think anyone can top this one:

Calling in sick to work makes me uncomfortable. No matter how legitimate my excuse, I always get the feeling that my boss thinks I'm lying.

On one recent occasion, I had a valid reason but lied anyway, because the
truth was just too darned humiliating. I simply mentioned that I had
sustained a head injury, and I hoped I would feel up to coming in the next day. By
then, I reasoned, I could think up a doozy to explain the bandage on the
top of my head.

The accident occurred mainly because I had given in to my wife's wishes to adopt a cute little kitty.
Initially, the new acquisition was no problem.
Then one morning, I was taking my shower after breakfast when I heard my wife, Deb, call out to me from the kitchen.  Honey! The garbage
disposal is dead again. Please come reset it."

"You know where the button is," I protested through the shower pitter-patter and steam. "Reset it yourself!"
?But I'm scared!" she persisted. "What if it starts going and sucks me in?"
There was a meaningful pause and then, "C'mon, it'll only take you a second." So out I came, dripping wet and buck naked, hoping that my
silent outraged nudity would make a statement about how I perceived her behaviour as extremely cowardly. Sighing loudly, I squatted down and stuck my head under the sink to find the button. It is the last action I remember performing.

It struck without warning, and without any respect to my circumstances. No, it wasn't the hexed disposal, drawing me into its gnashing metal teeth. It was our new kitty, who discovered the fascinating dangling objects she spied hanging between my legs. She had been poised around the corner and stalked me as I reached under the sink. And, at the precise moment when I was most vulnerable, she leapt at the toys I unwittingly offered and snagged them with her needle-like claws.

I lost all rational thought to control orderly bodily movements, blindly rising at a violent rate of speed, with the full weight of kitten hanging
from my masculine region.

Wild animals are sometimes faced with a "fight or flight" syndrome
Men... in this predicament, choose only the "flight" option. I know this from experience. I was fleeing straight up into the air when the sink and cabinet bluntly and forcefully impeded my ascent.

The impact knocked me out cold...

When I awoke, my wife and the paramedics stood over me. Now there are not many things in this life worse than finding oneself lying on the kitchen floor buck naked in front of a group of "been-there, done-that" paramedics.
Even worse, having been fully briefed by my wife, the paramedics were all snorting loudly as they tried to conduct their work, all the while trying to suppress their hysterical laughter......and not succeeding.

Somehow I lived through it all.
A few days later I finally made it back in to the office, where colleagues tried to coax an explanation of me about my head injury.
I kept silent, claiming it was too painful to talk about, which it was.

"What's the matter?" They all asked, "Cat got your tongue?"   If they only knew!

Why is it that only the women laugh at this?

small two-seater Cessna plane crashed into a cemetery. Irish search and
rescue workers have recovered 1826 bodies so far and expect that number
to climb as digging continues into the night.

3 nuns..

 Subject: - Three Nuns ..................................

Three Italian nuns die and go to heaven. At the Pearly Gates, they are met by St. Peter. He says "Sisters, you all led such wonderful lives that I'm granting you six months to go back to earth and be anyone you want to be."

The first nun says, "I want to be Sophia Loren;" and *poof* she's gone.
The second says, "I want to be Madonna;" and *poof* she's gone.
The third says, "I want to be Sara Pipalini."

St. Peter looks perplexed. "Who?" he says.
 "Sara Pipalini;" replies the nun.
St. Peter shakes his head and says; "I'm sorry, but that name just doesn't ring a bell."
The nun then takes a newspaper out of her habit and hands it to St. Peter. He reads the paper and starts laughing. He hands it back to her and says "No sister, the paper says it was the 'Sahara Pipeline' that was laid by 1,400 men in 6 months."

another joke

Two Indians and an Irishman were walking through the woods. All of a sudden one of the Indians ran up a hill to the mouth of a small cave.
"Wooooo! Wooooo! Wooooo!" he called into the cave and listened closely until he heard an answering, "Wooooo! Wooooo! Woooooo! He then tore off his clothes and ran into the cave.
The Irishman was puzzled and asked the remaining Indian what it was all about. "Was the other Indian crazy or what?" The Indian replied "No, It is our custom during mating season when Indian men see cave, they holler 'Wooooo! Wooooo! Wooooo!' into the opening. If they get an answer back, it means there's a beautiful squaw in there waiting for us."        Just then they came upon another cave. The second Indian ran up to the cave, stopped, and hollered, "Wooooo! Wooooo! Wooooo!" Immediately, there was the answer. "Wooooo! Wooooo! Wooooo!" from deep inside. He also tore off his clothes and ran into the opening.
The Irishman wandered around in the woods alone for a while, and then spied a third large cave. As he looked in amazement at the size of the huge opening, he was thinking, "Hoo, man! Look at the size of this cave!
It is bigger than those the Indians found. There must be some really big, fine women in this cave!"
He stood in front of the opening and hollered with all his might "Wooooo! Wooooo!Wooooo!"
Like the others, he then heard an answering call,"WOOOOOOOOO, WOOOOOOOOO WOOOOOOOOO!" With a gleam in his eye and a smile on his face, he raced into the
cave, tearing off his clothes as he ran. The following day, the headline of the local newspaper read.....

This has to be one of the funniest things in a long time. I think this guy
should have been promoted, not fired. This is  a true story from the
WordPerfect Helpline, which was transcribed from a recording monitoring
the customer care department.. Needless to say the Help Desk employee
was fired; however, he/she is currently suing the WordPerfect organization
for "Termination without Cause."

Actual dialogue of a former WordPerfect Customer Support employee.
(Now I  know why they record these conversations!):

Operator:         "Ridge Hall, computer assistance; may I help you?"
Caller:              "Yes, well, I'm having trouble with WordPerfect."
Operator:         "What sort of trouble??"
Caller:              "Well, I was just typing along, and all of a sudden the words
went away."
Operator:         "Went away?"
Caller:              "They disappeared."
Operator:         "Hmm. So what does your screen look like now?"
Caller:              "Nothing."
Operator:         "Nothing??"
Caller:              "It's blank; it won't accept anything when I type."
Operator:         "Are you still in WordPerfect, or did you get out??"
Caller:              "How do I tell?"
Operator:         "Can you see the 'C: prompt' on the screen??"
Caller:              "What's a sea-prompt?"
Operator:         "Never mind, can you move your cursor around the screen?"
Caller:              "There isn't any cursor; I told you, it won't accept anything I type."
Operator:         "Does your monitor have a power indicator??"
Caller:              "What's a monitor?"
Operator:         "It's the thing with the screen on it that looks like a TV.. Does
it have a little light that tells you when it's on??"
Caller:               "I don't know."
Operator:          "Well, then look on the back of the monitor and find where the
power cord goes into it. Can you see that??"
Caller:              "Yes, I think so."
Operator:         "Great.. Follow the cord to the plug, and tell me if it's plugged
into the wall.
Caller:              "Yes, it is."
Operator:         "When you were behind the monitor, did you notice that there
were two cables plugged into the back of it, not just one??"
Caller:               "No."
Operator:          "Well, there are. I need you to look back there again and find
the other cable."
Caller:               "Okay, here it is."
Operator:          "Follow it for me, and tell me if it's plugged securely into the
back of your computer."
Caller:               "I can't reach."
Operator:          "OK. Well, can you see if it is??"
Caller:               "No."
Operator:          "Even if you maybe put your knee on something and lean way
over??"
Caller:               "Well, it's not because I don't have the right angle -- it's
because it's dark."
Operator:          "Dark??"
Caller:               "Yes - the office light is off, and the only light I have is coming
in from the window."
Operator:           "Well, turn on the office light then."
Caller:               "I can't."
Operator:          "No? Why not??"
Caller:               "Because there's a power failure."
Operator:           "A power .... A power failure? Aha. Okay, we've got it licked
now. Do you still have the boxes and manuals and packing stuff that your
computer came in??"
Caller:               "Well, yes, I keep them in the closet."
Operator:           "Good. Go get them, and unplug your system and pack it
up just like it was when you got it. Then take it back to the store you
bought it from."
Caller:                "Really? Is it that bad?"
Operator:           "Yes, I'm afraid it is."
Caller:                "Well, all right then, I suppose. What do I tell them??"
Operator:           "Tell them you're too stupid to own a computer!!!"
